Position Summary: The Director of Open Enrollment (OE) Programs (level 14) is responsible for driving participant enrollment, revenue growth, and market expansion across Duke Executive Education's portfolio of non-degree open enrollment programs. This role owns the full demand-generation and conversion funnel-from awareness to enrollment-and is accountable for meeting enrollment and revenue targets.

This leader will transition the OE business from a relationship-driven model to a scalable, data-driven growth engine. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution across digital marketing, lead generation, conversion optimization, and portfolio performance management.

The Director will work closely with faculty program directors, marketing staff, and external partners to ensure that program offerings are effectively positioned, marketed, and filled to optimal capacity. This role reports to the Associate Dean for Executive Education.

What you will do.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Revenue & Enrollment Ownership
  • Own enrollment and revenue targets for the Open Enrollment portfolio.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies to consistently achieve 30+ participants per program (where appropriate).
  • Forecast demand, pipeline, and enrollment outcomes across programs.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across the funnel (traffic, leads, conversion rates, cost per acquisition, yield).
  • Optimize pricing strategies, discounting, and promotional structures to maximize revenue and margin.
2. Demand Generation & Marketing Strategy
  • Design and lead an integrated, always-on demand generation strategy across digital channels (paid media, SEO, email, social, partnerships).
  • Partner with internal marketing staff to execute high-performing campaigns aligned with enrollment goals.
  • Define target audiences, personas, and value propositions for each program.
  • Allocate marketing budget across channels based on ROI and performance data.
  • Scale high-performing programs through focused investment and campaigns.
3. Funnel Management & Conversion Optimization
  • Own the end-to-end enrollment funnel, including lead capture, nurture, and conversion.
  • Design and implement structured lead follow-up processes, including email workflows, calls, and engagement strategies.
  • Improve conversion rates from inquiry to enrollment through testing and optimization.
  • Introduce and manage enrollment tactics, deadlines, and urgency-based campaigns.
  • Ensure timely and effective lead engagement.
4. Portfolio Strategy & Performance Management
  • Evaluate program performance and identify opportunities to scale, redesign, or sunset offerings.
  • Partner with faculty and program teams to align program design with market demand.
  • Identify opportunities for new programs based on market trends and customer insights.
  • Balance portfolio mix between high-volume scalable programs and premium niche offerings.
5. Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement
  • Build and maintain dashboards to track marketing and enrollment performance.
  • Leverage CRM and marketing automation tools (e.g., Salesforce) to monitor pipeline and campaign effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Develop insights on customer behavior, channel performance, and competitive positioning.

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-12+ years of experience in growth, marketing, or revenue-focused roles, ideally in education, professional services, or B2C/B2B hybrid environments.
  • Proven track record of driving measurable revenue growth through digital marketing and funnel optimization.
  • Experience managing paid media, lead generation, and conversion strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $62,694.00 to USD $107,633.00.
