We are seeking an experienced Director of Community Engagement to lead our outreach and business development in the Wilmington, Delaware area.


The Role

As Common Energy’s Director of Community Engagement you will lead Common Energy’s community engagement and help enroll thousands of Delaware residents in Delaware’s new community solar program.  This program is free to enroll and delivers contracted savings to any resident served by DelMarVa Power.

In this role you will engage with local businesses, chambers, affordable housing providers, senior housing, religious institutions to coordinate virtual and in-person enrollment events.

Responsibilities:


  • Event Planning:
    • Develop a comprehensive execution plan for 12-20 known industry events that the Company attends each year
    • Propose and execute new events to further the Company’s brand and business objectives, including: recruiting events, industry talks and sponsorships, sponsorship opportunities, and roles for the CEO
    • Plan and implement strategies to maximize attendee engagement and Company impact during events
    • Identify and share new branding needs to capture the target audience's attention
    • Use social media and other channels to create pre-event buzz and post-event content
    • Work with the VP of Growth to develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness
    • Track expenses and provide post-event financial analysis.

Event Execution

  • Coordinate logistics, including booth selection, ensuring all booth- and event marketing-related materials arrive on time
  • Arrive early at events, set up booth and marketing materials, ensure a seamless event experience for sales executives and the CEO
  • Attend the event and be an integral part of our event marketing team
  • Ensure new leads are captured and shared with the VP of Growth
  • Evaluate the success of events through post-event analysis and reporting


Requirements


  • Positive people person who thrives on engaging with others and creating calls to action!
  • Extensive network of relationships in the Wilmington area, including with business leaders and ideally housing providers (affordable housing, senior living, large housing communities)
  • At least 8 years of experience planning and executing conference events, including: coordinating, setting up, and attending events, and customer engagement
  • Ability to travel on average 4-8 days per month
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
