Job description

Power Solutions is seeking an entry level Development Engineer. This is an entry level position designed to train a recent graduate/or early career engineer in new product development for power electrical interconnects used in Datacom Applications. Examples of our product applications in Datacom are power from facility to data center rack, data center rack architecture, server & storage, and networking.

Upon placement, candidates will receive one-on-one career development from experienced technical staff in areas of product development, testing, and qualification of new products.

Training program will consist of the following areas:

  • Electrical Connector Basics
  • Electrical Power Connectors
  • Simulation (mechanical, electrical, thermal)
  • Manufacturing Methods and Disciplines (e.g., electroplating, metal stamping, plastic molding, product assembly)
  • Product Testing (internal product qualification, external certification testing)
Responsibilities (after initial training program)
  • Conceptualize, design, and develop power connector solutions as required by the BU strategic roadmap.
  • Complete engineering deliverables to ensure design verification.
    • Design for Manufacturing
    • Tolerance Analysis
    • Product Simulations
    • Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
    • Create 3D models and 2D drawings
  • Define Product, Application, and Packaging specifications
  • Define verification and product qualification test plans
  • Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to support product transfer to manufacturing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related degree
  • 0-3 years of experience in connector design
  • General knowledge of 3D modeling using PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) and/or SolidWorks
  • Ability to communicate well with Global Customers and all levels of the organization including Management, Marketing, Sales, Process Engineering, Test Lab personnel, other Engineers (local and global).
  • Ability to prioritize, work to meet objectives and to manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously.
