Work onsite Monday to Friday (some late or weekend work may be required) from 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM and contribute to impactful products that change peoples' lives. With a competitive salary of $71,500 to $77,000 per year (this range includes base salary and anticipated annual bonus), this position not only offers financial rewards, but also the opportunity to build your career in a supportive, collaborative, and values-focused environment. Once training has been completed and the employee transitions to the third shift hours, they will qualify for a shift differential added to the base salary.

Your day-to-day as an Associate Engineer – Physical Monitoring (Third Shift)

As an Associate Engineer – Physical Monitoring (Third Shift) at Abeona Therapeutics, your day-to-day activities will focus on providing hands-on support in Engineering for alarm monitoring of the Building Management System and Environmental Monitoring System. This role will work closely with various departments throughout the company and be responsible for maintaining the overall GMP areas and equipment status on third shift. This role involves initiating Quality Events, assessing the impact of alarms, troubleshooting units, and resolving alarms related to equipment and the facility.

Your expertise will directly impact the quality and reliability of our therapeutic solutions, all while upholding our commitment to putting patients first. This position enables you to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of gene-based therapy solutions in a compliance-focused environment.

Schedule

The usual working hours for this role are Monday to Friday (some late or weekend work may be required) from 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM (Training will be completed on the first shift). Hours may be adjusted to adapt to business and patient needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform physical monitoring of incubators, refrigerators, freezers, and cryogenic units within clean space and quality control laboratories and monitor differential pressures, temperature, and humidity of clean rooms (ISO Class 7 and 8) to ensure they are maintained in a state of control.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from monitoring systems to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with units promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of all monitoring activities.
  • Issue Quality Events and collaborate with the owning department to assess the impact when alarms occur.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report issues.
  • Perform walk-throughs of facility checking the security of all inside doors and status of facility and equipment.
  • Be gowned qualified to be able to trouble shoot or perform minor maintenance on equipment in ISO 7 and 8 areas.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety regulations.
  • Assist Facilities with minor tasks.
  • Availability to be on call or work overtime outside of regular business hours (weekends) as needed, i.e. for alarm monitoring or equipment breakdowns.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and react with minimal oversight.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).
  • Experience in a cGMP facility or similar regulated environment is preferred.

Physical Demands

Occasional walking, standing, or climbing stairs within office or facility settings. Must be able to travel between company sites or to vendor locations, if needed.
