JOB SUMMARY: Assists product and process engineers in designing electronic circuits for keyboard or ODM products. Evaluates and implements changes to existing products. Investigates and resolves issues involving design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of electronic circuits and components.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)

  • Assists in designing electronic circuits and creates firmware for keyboard products, input devices, and/or ODM products.
  • Assists in building and debugging prototypes.
  • Assists in developing quality control specifications and standards for product manufacturing decisions.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Performs purchasing interface; obtains samples/quotes of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Works with design engineers to find common or unique components for design applications.
  • Works with suppliers, customers, receiving inspection, and engineers reviewing component, product and test specifications.
  • Aide in training engineering specialist and engineering interns as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • May be assigned other duties that will directly or indirectly support the Engineering and/or Operations department.

SUPERVISION GIVEN/RECEIVED

Is supervised by the Engineering Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and previous experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years experience of electronics manufacturing and process engineering
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
  • Ability to operate a computer use spreadsheet, database, word processing, and assembly language programming software.
  • Ability to design circuits, and create firmware for embedded processors.
  • Ability to use EECAD Systems.
  • This position requires broad knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and electromechanical assemblies, and the ability to effectively interface with all other departments within the company

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Electronic hardware and/or software design experience desired but not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
