Primary Purpose of Organization Unit
The Thomas College of Business and Economics is accredited by the Association for Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB accreditation differentiates business and accounting programs from those at other institutions in terms of quality, rigor, and relevance. Only five percent of business schools worldwide are accredited by AACSB International. The Thomas College of Business and Economics values internationalization to prepare students for a competitive global environment, diversity to enrich personal growth and enhance the learning experience, ethical decision making to prepare students to serve as business leaders, and scholarship to benefit our students' education.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position will work with the Dean to manage the Thomas College of Business and Economics multiple programs and with faculty, staff, and students at UNCP. As Associate Dean, this individual will focus on current and proposed student initiatives, student concerns, and departmental and unit assessments.
This position provides advanced administrative leadership to the Thomas College of Business and Economics departments. Other major functions may include providing support in the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of existing and new programs, providing necessary guidance to ensure compliance with state, regulatory, and accrediting agencies, and collaborating with chairs and coordinators to assist in the development and support of new initiatives to increase student success. The Associate Dean will assist with academic programming in collaboration with departments and colleges and will define educational goals, objectives, assessment measures and methodologies in conjunction with faculty and Academic Affairs. This position will also facilitate the academic preparedness and success of students to promote accountability for participation in student success efforts throughout the college and the community. The maintenance of the accreditation process will be facilitated by this position, reducing the reporting burden on the school. The practice develops an ongoing "maintenance of accreditation" mindset, ensuring that the college has a successful system in place for continuous improvement that maintains the AACSB lnternational accreditation status.
Job Description
This 12-month full-time position will join the TCOBE Dean's Office in the coordination of its constituent units. This role does not include any teaching responsibilities or opportunities, except under emergency circumstances as determined by the Dean.
Duties may include, among others assigned by the Dean:
Program Development, Assessment, and Enrollment (30%)
• Coordinate and oversee class schedules, including faculty loads and enrollment caps.
• Ensure General Education needs are met in adherence with the Course Program of Study (CPOS) requirements and the UNCP Center for Student Success.
• Oversee SACSCOC and AACSB accreditation initiatives and tracking faculty sufficiency and achievements in SEDONA or related software.
• Work with the Director of the Passport to Professional Success program to ensure compliance and student success.
• Maintenance and growth of articulation agreements and memorandums of understanding with other universities and colleges.
• Serve as primary contact for Office of Global Engagement for international students.
Accreditation AACSB Maintenance (30%)
• Oversee the implementation and review of the College's strategic plan.
• Monitor faculty academic qualifications and maintenance of AACSB qualification statuses.
• Insure SEDONA database updates.
• Responsible for collection, analysis, and reporting of AACSB departmental and unit data.
• Collaborate with the AOL coordinator to review the assurance of learning process and assessment results.
• Oversee the College's societal impact committee.
• Act as the liaison with the TCOBE alumni by conducting surveys and keep them updated on the College's activities.
Student Initiatives and Concerns (30%)
• Oversee and resolve student complaints and grievances.
• Track completion of student evaluations for PTR, P&T,contract renewal, and annual evaluations.
• Serve as a resource for department chairs concerning procedures and departmental logistics.
• Work collaboratively with individual faculty members and counterparts in other academic units to develop and implement student success initiatives within TCOBE.
• Serve as primary contact on student study abroad initiatives.
Marketing and Media Oversight (10%)
• Develop and oversee TCOBE newsletters, social media, and website presence.
• Monitor and advise departmental website content updates.
• Represent the college and the Dean's office on various campus wide committees and at on-campus events.
• Promote student recruitment and retention through marketing efforts.
Other
• Serve as the backup to the Dean
• Other duties as assigned by the Dean
Management Preference
