Primary Purpose of Organization Unit
The Thomas College of Business and Economics is accredited by the Association for Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB accreditation differentiates business and accounting programs from those at other institutions in terms of quality, rigor, and relevance. Only five percent of business schools worldwide are accredited by AACSB International. The Thomas College of Business and Economics values internationalization to prepare students for a competitive global environment, diversity to enrich personal growth and enhance the learning experience, ethical decision making to prepare students to serve as business leaders, and scholarship to benefit our students' education.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position will work with the Dean to manage the Thomas College of Business and Economics multiple programs and with faculty, staff, and students at UNCP. As Associate Dean, this individual will focus on current and proposed student initiatives, student concerns, and departmental and unit assessments.
This position provides advanced administrative leadership to the Thomas College of Business and Economics departments. Other major functions may include providing support in the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of existing and new programs, providing necessary guidance to ensure compliance with state, regulatory, and accrediting agencies, and collaborating with chairs and coordinators to assist in the development and support of new initiatives to increase student success. The Associate Dean will assist with academic programming in collaboration with departments and colleges and will define educational goals, objectives, assessment measures and methodologies in conjunction with faculty and Academic Affairs. This position will also facilitate the academic preparedness and success of students to promote accountability for participation in student success efforts throughout the college and the community. The maintenance of the accreditation process will be facilitated by this position, reducing the reporting burden on the school. The practice develops an ongoing "maintenance of accreditation" mindset, ensuring that the college has a successful system in place for continuous improvement that maintains the AACSB lnternational accreditation status.
