The School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Division of Public Health. The successful candidate will join a growing and dynamic team dedicated to preparing students for careers in public health. The role involves leadership and management of field education, student advising, and participation in department, college, university, and professional service.

The salary isdeterminedin accordance withthe University's compensation structure and will becommensuratewith the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Responsibilities:

Teaching

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Public Health and related disciplines.

  • Develop new courses and instructional materials that align with program needs.

  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies, including technology-enhanced and online learning.

  • Supervise student projects, internships, and independent studies.

Research & Scholarship

  • Establish and maintain an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications.

  • Pursue internal and external grants/funding opportunities to support scholarly activities.

  • Engage in collaborative research within the School of Public and Allied Health and across disciplines.

  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in academic planning, research, and professional development.

  • Support students in pursuing experiential learning, including research, community engagement, and study abroad opportunities.

Service & Leadership

  • Participate in program assessment, accreditation activities, and curriculum development.

  • Serve on division, school, and university committees.

  • Engage in professional service through memberships, conference presentations, and editorial/reviewer roles.

  • Contribute to community outreach and partnerships that promote health parity and allied health initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., DrPH., or equivalent) in Public Health, Global Health, Health Promotion, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • Evidence of effective teaching experience at the college/university level.

  • Demonstrated scholarly potential, including peer-reviewed publications or a clear research agenda.

  • Experience in student mentoring, advising, or supervision.

  • 3-5 years of field practice experience is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of social and behavioral science, epidemiology, health promotion, or related disciplines.

  • Ability to design and deliver engaging instruction across multiple learning formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to various learners.

  • Demonstrated skills in research methodology, data analysis, and scholarly writing.

  • Ability to mentor and advise students from different academic backgrounds.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance teaching, research, and service responsibilities.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, community partners, and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Commitment to ethical conduct, professional integrity, and lifelong learning.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of CEPH accreditation standards and course alignment guidelines.

  • Strong knowledge of public health, health promotion and education, or related disciplines.

  • Experience with curriculum development and program assessment in CEPH-accredited programs.

  • Ability to design and deliver engaging instruction across multiple learning formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with various learners.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and with external community partners.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Commitment to ethical conduct, professional integrity, and lifelong learning.
