Job description

Job Title: Associate Content Director

The Associate Content Director (ACD) is a strategic leader responsible for transforming high-level business objectives into impactful, authority-focused, and narrative-driven digital content ecosystems. Beyond editorial oversight, the ACD acts as a strategic architect, ensuring all initiatives target sophisticated audiences and drive measurable financial and operational results. You will partner closely with the Account Lead and Account Director to nurture client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for content strategy and Category Authority needs. Reporting to the VP of Content, you will master and evolve Skyword's Category Authority framework.
Core Responsibilities:
The ACD's primary charter is to synthesize disparate authority-building elements into cohesive brand narratives. Responsibilities are organized into three key pillars:
Strategic Framework Development
  • Create comprehensive content strategy frameworks to govern quarterly and monthly plans.
  • Identify key themes and content types using Skyword A360 Strategy Insights to engage customers throughout their journey.
  • Leverage QBR and Skyword internal data to provide high-level thematic recommendations and tactical activations.
  • Develop and maintain a profound understanding of customer personas and audience priorities.
  • Execute market research and competitive analysis using Skyword and other AI tools to shape client positioning.
  • Identify "white space" opportunities to support authority growth and market opportunity.
  • Extract and integrate Subject Matter Expert (SME) insights into core narratives and content opportunities.
Operational Execution & Team Management
  • Manage a team of content creators, editors, and editorial contractors.
  • Recruit and train creative talent, assigning projects based on specialized skill sets.
  • Align production budgets with creation needs and oversee client-specific workflows.
  • Review content briefs and utilize A360 production tools to ensure efficiency and quality standards.
  • Manage on-time content delivery while fostering open collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Governance, Quality, and Brand Consistency
  • Implement rigorous content governance and style guides to ensure brand voice uniformity in all content under your direction.
  • Lead client engagements regarding content feedback and programmatic updates.
  • Proactively update client creative guides based on synthesized feedback to ensure program relevance.
  • Operate the A360 platform (Atomize, Audit) to perform content analysis and identify growth opportunities.
  • Review and manage priority strategic content assets.
Scope Boundaries: What you will not do
To maintain focus on strategic leadership and operational excellence, this role excludes:
  • Direct Content Creation: You are not responsible for writing content.
  • Initial Quality Control: You do not re-review content already edited by another teammate.
  • Primary Account Management: You do not run daily status meetings or participate in every client call.
  • Data Preparation: You are not responsible for gathering raw performance analytics.
  • Hands-on Production: No video editing, graphic design, or post-production work is required.

What this role requires
  • 7+ years of content marketing experience.
  • 4+ years in a content management role within an agency or enterprise environment.
  • Proven success managing complex content programs for large enterprise brands.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience in regulated sectors such as Financial Services, Healthcare, or Cybersecurity.
  • Expert knowledge of SEO/AEO foundations and brand visibility best practices.
  • Proficiency in understanding and translating critical content metrics.
  • Mastery in translating technical and creative concepts for executive audiences.
  • Ability to manage budgets and drive client financial goals.
  • Ability to learn and use Skyword's platform.
  • Expert use of AI tools.
We offer:
  • A competitive market-based salary
  • Flexibility. We are a 100% remote, open and collaborative work environment
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans
  • 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan
  • Flexible Vacation time
  • Paid holidays and Wellbeing Fridays
