Account Executive – Natural Resources Practice

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from either out Toronto, Montreal or Halifax office, in line with Aon’s smart working policy.

What the day will look like

As an Account Executive, you will be the central point of contact for key natural resources clients, directing all aspects of account management, renewals and service delivery.

  • Direct and lead assigned natural resources accounts, working with Associate Account Executives to deliver on client needs.
  • Coordinate all account activity, including client requests, policy changes, additions, deletions, renewals and cancellations.
  • Work with the Broking Team to initiate and lead the 120day renewal process, including preparing and presenting renewal reports and reviewing final policy documentation.
  • Review contracts, policies, endorsements, cover notes and certificates of insurance to ensure accuracy and alignment with client requirements and underwriting considerations.
  • Support clients on significant claims issues, liaising with internal claims resources as needed.
  • Power & renewables, mining or energy
  • Develop and lead seniorlevel client relationships, identifying crosssell opportunities and supporting new business development within the natural resources segment.

How this opportunity is different

This role sits within Aon’s specialized National Natural Resources Practice, giving you the opportunity to work on complex, highprofile natural resources accounts with a dedicated power & renewables, mining or energy industry focus. You will collaborate closely with Associate Account Executives, Broking, Claims and other specialists, and be supported by Aon’s broader Commercial Risk team and tools to deliver distinctive value. You’ll have significant client visibility, influence program design and renewals, and contribute directly to practice growth in a strategic sector for Aon.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 8+ years of commercial insurance experience, ideally including large and complex natural resources accounts, with a strong preference for power and renewables experience (mining and energy experience also valued).
  • Strong client relationship skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
  • Proven experience leading account lifecycles, including renewals, documentation review and coordination with broking and claims teams.
  • Ability to analyze contracts and insurance requirements, anticipate underwriting issues and provide clear guidance to clients and colleagues.
  • University degree (or equivalent) preferred; RIBO license required; CIP, FCIP and/or CRM preferred or in progress; strong organizational, communication and Microsoft Office skills.
