About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to help lead our Assisted Living team and ensure residents receive outstanding clinical support every day.

Working in partnership with the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON provides hands-on clinical leadership, mentors and develops care staff, and helps maintain a culture of excellence, accountability, and resident-centered care. This is an ideal opportunity for a nurse leader who enjoys being visible on the floor, coaching teams, and making a direct impact on residents' lives.

Starting Pay Range: $115,000 to $125,000 annually


Essential Job Duties

  • Maintains a visible, hands-on leadership presence on the floor to support safe, timely, and dignified resident care, while providing day-to-day direction to the full care team.
  • Leads, develops, and manages assigned staff to ensure a high performing, engaged, and compliant workforce. Directly supervises Nursing Assistants. Provides defined dotted-line oversight for Medication Technicians and Resident Care Coordinators (RCCs), who report directly to the Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Ensures nursing practice, documentation, medication administration, and infection-control processes meet regulatory and facility standards
  • Ensures nursing staff are prepared and confident in their roles by delivering orientation, ongoing in-service education, and just-in-time coaching that closes identified knowledge and skill gaps.
  • Plans, completes, and documents skills competency checks and re-validations for Resident Care Coordinators (RCCs), Medication Technicians, and NACs to confirm qualifications and demonstrated compliance with facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures resident safety and well-being by monitoring for changes in condition, incidents, and unusual occurrences, responding promptly, and reporting concerns to the Director of Nursing, Assisted Living Administrator, and/or state agency as required.
  • Protects residents from abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of property by monitoring allegations, participating in investigations, and consistently safeguarding residents' rights.
  • Partners with the interdisciplinary team, physicians, families, and community agencies to coordinate responsive care and resolve concerns and complaints promptly.
  • Ensures the community remains inspection-ready by maintaining compliance with Washington assisted living requirements and facility policies.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Supports assisted living department budget planning and manages medical and nursing supplies to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Participates in performance-improvement activities, facility committees, and move-in and care-level decisions as indicated.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge

  • Active, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Washington State.
  • Experience leading and supervising large teams in assisted living, skilled nursing, a hospital, or a related health care setting.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing assisted living in Washington State.
  • Current CPR certification and Food Handlers Permit.
  • Completion of DSHS Dementia and Mental Health training as required by WA State regulations.
  • Microsoft Office Applications (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
