Job description

We are looking to hire an ambitious individual to serve as the Activities Assistant for our assisted living facility in Albany NY. This dynamic position requires an ambitious individual to assist with all recreational aspects of an assisted living community. The Activities Assistant will assist in creating/providing appropriate social activities for the home’s Assisted Living and Special Needs residents while maintaining the respect and dignity of each person. The Activities Assistant assists with:

  • Creating a monthly activity calendar for residents;
  • Implementing recreation activities that are scheduled on the monthly activity calendar;
  • Assisting in coordinating appropriate entertainment;
  • Taking direction from the Activity Director and Memory Care Coordinator;
  • Engaging and motivating residents to partake in daily social, physical and cognitive activities as planned;
  • Maintaining records of all activities and resident participation levels of each activity;
  • Creating events in alignment with occupancy rates and needs of residents;
  • Purchasing appropriate arts, crafts and supplies for scheduled activities;
  • Planning, organizing and scheduling diversified and stimulating activities with sufficient supervision as necessary;
  • Implementing programs to enlist volunteers within community to aid in resident and assisted living facility activities for all departments;
  • Covering front desk as needed;
  • Performing other duties as needed and/or assigned.

This person also assists residents on community outings, and during resident special events/holiday celebrations. He/she will also update the orientation boards in both living areas on a daily basis. Also, cleans and straightens up each area after an activity is complete prior to leaving that area and understands resident’s needs for patience, tactile stimulation, sensory stimulation, redirection and remains calm in all types of situati
