Your Responsibilities

As an Engineering Lead at John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Urbandale, IA you will:

  • Lead one or more software delivery teams responsible for developing and operating near real-time notification capabilities and Customer AI Assistant experiences within the John Deere Operations Center. Drive technical design, development, delivery, and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong focus on quality, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Architects, User Experience designers, fellow Engineering Leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to define product strategy, technical direction, and solution architecture that delivers measurable customer value.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across the software development lifecycle, including system design, code quality, testing strategies, operational readiness, and continuous delivery practices.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers through regular feedback, career development planning, and growth opportunities. Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture while attracting, retaining, and developing exceptional engineering talent.
  • Lead organizational change through the adoption of modern engineering practices, AI-enabled development tools, cloud-native architectures, platform capabilities, and strategic technologies that improve team productivity and accelerate product delivery.

What Skills You Need
  • 6-10 years of experience in designing and building scalable web applications, backend services, APIs, or distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile software development practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), automated testing, and modern software engineering principles.
  • 4-6 years of experience with public cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
