Job description

A job at TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. TSMC Arizona's first fab will operate it's leading-edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize its leading edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. America's leading technology companies are ready to rely on TSMC Arizona for the next generations of chips that will power the digital future.

As a Facilities I&C Engineer, you will demonstrate a strong sense of reliability and enthusiasm and will possess an attitude that embodies our core values - Integrity, Commitment, Innovation and Customer Trust.

As the Facility I&C Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, installing, and maintaining mission critical systems that monitor and control various aspects of the facility, such as temperature, pressure, flow, and level. You will work closely with equipment like sensors, controllers, communication networks and FMCS to ensure efficient and safe operation of our semiconductor facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Implementation:

  • Responsible for system design, configuration, integration, implementation, repairing, and troubleshooting facility PLC and SCADA systems. 
  • This includes calibration of system instrumentation field devices, management of PLC control panels, ladder logic, field instrumentation loops, network communications, alarm management and SCADA system.
  • Support I&C systems for various applications, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), water treatment, and gas chemical distribution systems.

Installation and Commissioning:

  • Oversee the initial setup of the I&C systems, ensuring they are properly calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to support facility operations.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of the I&C systems to identify and fix any issues that may arise.
  • Operation support of PLC/SCADA and DDC automation systems.
  • Respond to Instrumentation issues to support continuous factory operations.

System Optimization:

  • Work to optimize the performance of the I&C systems, adjusting and improving to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintains backup database for all logic.

Safety:

  • Ensure safety of the facility by designing and maintaining safety systems that monitor and control potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Safety awareness/knowledge/training when working with I&C and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Additional duties based on business needs, including ERT.
  • If hired for this position, you may be required to participate in and perform Emergency Response Team (ERT) duties as an essential part of the role. These duties may include responding to F21 incidents, such as medical emergencies, chemical spills, fire response, or addressing any other disruptions to business operations. If you are selected by your manager to become a part of ERT, participation is mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing, commissioning, and troubleshooting facility instrumentation and control systems is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial automation systems including PLC, SCADA, and DDC is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, FMCS, BMS, and CMMS programs, and relevant certifications including ISA is preferred.

Candidates must be willing and able to work on-site at our Phoenix Arizona facility.
