Job description

DESCRIPTION: The Transitional Housing Support Staff provides direct support and oversight to residents participating in the Transitional Housing Program. This position promotes a safe, structured, and recovery-focused living environment while assisting residents in developing independent living skills, maintaining sobriety, and progressing toward long-term stability. 

Support Staff serve as a positive role model, reinforce program expectations, document services accurately, and ensure compliance with all organizational, state, and regulatory requirements. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Resident Support & Supervision 

  • Monitor resident activities to ensure a safe and structured environment. 

  • Enforce house rules, curfews, and program expectations consistently and respectfully. 

  • Conduct regular house checks and document observations. 

  • Perform random drug and alcohol screenings as assigned. 

  • Provide supportive coaching related to life skills, employment, and recovery goals. 

  • Assist residents with conflict resolution and problem-solving. 

  • Report concerns, incidents, or behavioral issues to supervisory staff promptly. 

Documentation & Compliance 

  • Complete accurate and timely shift notes, incident reports, and required logs. 

  • Maintain documentation in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards. 

  • Ensure all required forms are completed and submitted per protocol. 

  • Protect resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. 

Program Operations 

  • Conduct intake orientation for new residents when assigned. 

  • Support transportation coordination as needed. 

  • Assist with room checks, cleanliness inspections, and inventory management. 

  • Participate in team meetings and trainings. 

  • Support emergency response procedures when necessary. 

QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required 

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in related field preferred 

  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License with acceptable 36 month driving record  

  • CPR/FA Certification – to be obtained within first 30 days 

  • Fingerprint Clearance Card – have current card or show proof of applying within 7 days from hire date 

  • Handle with Care – to be obtained within first 30 days 

  • Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check 

  • Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing 

  • Successful clearance of TB PPD testing upon hire and annual screening of TB symptoms 

  • Attending clinical oversight with BHP once every 2 weeks worked for a minimum of 2 sessions per month.
