Job description

SUMMARY

Ajax Building Company is seeking a driven Assistant Superintendent to support field execution on complex construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This role offers a clear path to Superintendent, with hands-on exposure to all aspects of field leadership while working alongside experienced Superintendents and trade partners.

The Assistant Superintendent will help drive day-to-day site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and uphold safety, quality, and schedule - gaining the experience needed to step into a lead Superintendent role on increasingly complex projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with supervision of craft personnel to ensure project is constructed by design, within budget and on schedule.
  • Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
  • Monitor personnel for compliance with safety and working procedures.
  • Advise Superintendent of all potential problems and assist in problem solving.
    Perform additional assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal journeyman carpentry training and/or supervisory training courses preferred.
  • 5+ years construction experience, OR 2+ years experience with 4-year degree
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
  • Ability to motivate employees and handle different situations.
Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to perform the following tasks:
  • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
  • See well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
  • Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
