Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This role will heavily support grant accounting activities and managing general ledger activities. This is a great role for someone who is excited about an organization that is going through a transitional period
Compensation: $90,000 to $120,000

OverviewThis role is responsible for supporting financial operations across a variety of funds, including general ledger, grant, and student activity funds. The position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting budgeting, reporting, and audit processes. There are two openings: one focused on general accounting and one focused on federal grant accounting.
Key Responsibilities- Perform month-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary systems
- Support cash management, banking activity, and financial reporting
- Prepare and review financial reports, including grant and fiscal reporting
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Support audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
- Assist with budget development, tracking, and variance analysis
- Manage fixed asset tracking and capital expenditure reporting
- Monitor student activity and fundraising accounts
- Ensure proper documentation and approval processes are followed
- Support and train staff on financial systems, policies, and procedures
- Identify process improvements and assist with system enhancements
Additional focus for grant accounting role:- Manage federal grant budgeting, forecasting, and fund tracking
- Review grant agreements and establish tracking structures
- Partner with administrators on grant compliance and reporting
- Assist with grant applications and required fiscal reporting
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 4+ years of accounting experience in government, nonprofit, or education
- Federal grant accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and governmental accounting standards
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Experience with ERP systems
