Position Title: Finance Director

Starting Salary Range: $125,413 – 156,736 DOE

The Finance Director (FD) serves as the senior financial leader of CASA, a small but high-impact nonprofit organization with a staff of 25-30 and an annual operating budget of approximately $5 million. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, this position provides strategic financial oversight, ensures organizational sustainability, and translates complex financial information into clear guidance for leadership and the Board of Directors. In a small nonprofit context, this role combines hands‑on financial management with executive‑level strategic thinking. The FD must be equally comfortable preparing financial statements, advising on organizational strategy, and presenting to the board. The FD is responsible for all aspects of financial health of the organization and related entities (LLCs), including accounting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting and risk management, while fostering a culture of financial accountability across the organization.

• Financial Leadership & Strategy: Provide clear, accurate financial reporting and analysis to staff, board, and funders; translate complex financial information into actionable insights; forecast capital needs to support strategic initiatives.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain strong funder relationships through accurate grant and contract reporting; oversee audits, tax filings, and internal controls; develop policies and manage financial risk.
• Cash Flow & Capital Management: Ensure adequate liquidity across operations, lending, and capital projects; manage vendor and contract relationships with financial and tax partners.
• Staff Leadership & Development: Lead the Finance team, providing supervision, training, and professional development to ensure capacity and high performance. The Finance Director supervises an Accounting Manager and Accounting Assistant.
• Collaboration & Communication: Partner with program and operations team on budgeting and planning; convene the Finance Committee of the Board; communicate complex financial information effectively across the organization.

• 5+ years of experience in high-level finance roles (e.g., Controller, Finance Director, CFO)
• Nonprofit accounting experience
• Affordable housing real estate accounting
• Experience with related subsidiary (e.g., Limited liability Corporations) and intercompany transactions
• Proven experience leading finance and accounting teams responsible for budgets and funds of comparable size and complexity
• Demonstrated success in leading findings-free audits for financially complex organizations, including federal Single Audits.
• Ability to drive personal vehicles (with mileage reimbursement) to attend in‑person events.
• Willingness to travel occasionally statewide or nationally (typically 1–2 times per year).
