Utah Valley University is seeking a student employee to assist the department as an on-call phone interviewer!
- Conduct outbound telephone surveys with students, alumni, employers, and community members.
- Perform data entry.
- Follow established research protocols and confidentiality standards.
- Provide professional customer service while representing Utah Valley University.
- Assist with clerical and administrative tasks as assigned.
Summary of Responsibilities
- The Data Collection and Research Team at Utah Valley University is seeking a student employee to serve as an on-call phone interviewer.
- This position provides hands-on experience in survey research, data collection, and professional communication.
- Student interviewers help collect data that supports university planning, program improvement, and student success initiatives.
- The starting pay is $13.55 per hour, with the opportunity to increase to $14.10 per hour after 400 worked hours for employees who maintain good standing, meet attendance expectations, and demonstrate satisfactory job performance.
Operating Hours:
- Summer Term: Monday and Wednesday 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm; Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm; and (occasionally) Saturdays 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
- Fall and Spring semesters: Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and (occasionally) Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Weekday hours may vary based on caller demand and staff availability.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Must be a current UVU student.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Excellent reading, typing, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong telephone skills with the ability to communicate clearly and comfortably by phone (fluent in English).
- Active listening skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Ability to learn new software and procedures quickly.
- Ability to follow call protocols, confidentiality rules, and quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to type quickly while actively listening to calls.
- Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule throughout the semester.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
