Job description

Position Overview:

You will lead the maintenance and facilities function by supervising mechanical, electrical, and facilities personnel while ensuring the safe and reliable operation of facility and manufacturing equipment. In this role, you will oversee maintenance programs, direct technical work, manage contractors, and support equipment and facility improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, driving safety performance, and supporting operational efficiency through effective planning and resource management. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on equipment reliability, facility performance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership, technical direction, and oversight for mechanical, electrical, facilities, maintenance, and contracted service personnel.

  • Establish, implement, and manage predictive and preventive maintenance programs, schedules, and maintenance records for facility and manufacturing equipment.

  • Prepare work schedules, assign resources, and develop solutions to technical maintenance and facilities-related issues.

  • Lead facility and equipment improvement projects, equipment relocations, and capital equipment installation activities.

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices while ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and applicable safety regulations.

  • Identify environmental, safety, and ergonomic risks and develop and execute corrective action and improvement plans.

  • Assist in developing cost estimates, schedules, staffing plans, utility requirements, and material requirements for maintenance and facility activities.

  • Support the procurement and oversight of external contractors for specialized mechanical and electrical projects and services.

  • Collect and analyze operational data to support recommendations for equipment upgrades, staffing needs, and resource planning.

  • Maintain organized, clean, and orderly work areas in support of safety and operational standards.

Qualifications:

  • Two-year post-secondary degree or certificate in a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of combined supervisory and technical experience in lieu of post-secondary education.

  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance supervisory and/or technical experience.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety guidelines, procedures, and policies related to maintenance and repair, including Arc Flash, Lockout/Tagout, and OSHA 30-hour training requirements.

  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and tooling prints.

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance or technical teams in a manufacturing environment.

  • Metalworking knowledge, including welding and fabrication, is preferred.

  • Availability and willingness to work overtime as required, including participation in an on-call rotation.
