Colby Community College (CCC) invites applications for a full-time Head Coach - Softball to provide leadership and direction for the women's softball program in accordance with institutional, Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC), and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) regulations.
The compensation package for this full-time, exempt position is $43,200 - $55,250 per year in based on the selected candidates, education and experience.
The selected candidate will also be eligible to participate in the College's health, dental, and vision plan, as well as the State of Kansas KPERS retirement system.  This position is also eligible for relocation/moving expenses up to $2,000.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree highly preferred.
  • Post-secondary coaching experience is preferred.
  • Head Coaching experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of the community college mission and rural service environment

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting plan that ensures all allotted LOIs are filled with high-quality student-athletes each year.
  • Identify and recruit academically prepared and athletically talented softball players who align with the College's mission.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with high school, club, and summer league coaches to strengthen recruiting pipelines.
  • Collaborate with other College departments to assist recruits through the enrollment and onboarding process.
  • Monitor academic progress, retention, and graduation rates of all student-athletes, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Plan and conduct effective practices and training programs that develop athletic performance, teamwork, and discipline.
  • Implement game strategies that maximize team potential and foster competitive excellence.
  • Emphasize proper strength training, conditioning, and injury prevention practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all NJCAA, KJCCC, and institutional policies related to eligibility, recruiting, and competition.
  • Maintain accurate team records, including rosters, statistics, academic performance, and eligibility documents.
  • Manage the softball program budget responsibly, including purchasing, equipment inventory, and travel coordination.
  • Submit reports and documentation as required by the Athletic Department and College administration.
  • Coordinate youth camps, clinics, and outreach initiatives that promote the softball program and strengthen community relationships.
  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches, student managers, and support personnel.
  • Promote collaboration and communication among staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
