Job description

Methodist University invites applications for the position of Assistant Sports Information Director. This position will report to the Sports Information Director. The University is a member of the USA South Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III, sponsoring 20 varsity sports. This is a full-time position with benefits.ย 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with all social media management for the athletic department.
  • Design promotional material for social media and for print that adheres to the universityโ€™s identity standards
  • Assist withย all historical records for the department and supervise the photo files.ย 
  • Provide statistical coverage for athletic events.ย 
  • Assist withย supervision of SID office for student workers.ย 
  • Assist in staffing all home varsity athletic events with clock operators, public address announcer, stats, webstream, etc.ย 
  • Assist, update and inform the media and conference SID of all schedules, player information, records, and statistics for all sports.ย 
  • Assist in preparingย all requested NCAA forms in a timely manner.ย 
  • Nominate and promote Methodist University student-athletes for all appropriate honors programs locally, nationally and regionally.ย 
  • Assist in maintaining the MU Athletics website with accurate and current information.ย 
  • Write recaps after all athletics contests as well as news releases to be published on the MU Athletics website.
  • Design and update recruiting materials, media guides and brochures for the coachingย staff.ย 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director and/or Director of Athletics.ย 
  • Assist in event management and special events within the athletic department, including the HOF Golf Tournament, HOF Banquet, Awards Night, NCAA championships, outside events, etc.ย 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in sports management, communications, or other related discipline.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven, live-event environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in sports information or media/public relations.
  • Experience with statistical software (NCAA Live Stats, Presto).
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with photography, videography and/or video production/broadcasting.
  • Working knowledge of collegiate athletics operations and the NCAA Division III environment.
