DESCRIPTION
The city of Shoreview is looking for a motivated, high-energy individual to work as a part-time sports coordinator for Shoreview Parks & Recreation. This person will primarily work with the youth summer leagues.
DUTIES INCLUDE
  • Assist with the development and execution of recreation program curriculums and content for soccer, t-ball, and baseball leagues
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including communication both verbally and in writing
  • Make decisions and respond to inquiries and concerns relating to participants, programs, staff, and public
  • Coordinate and lead the implementation of a variety of recreational opportunities ensuring quality experiences for participants
  • Assist in the selection, training, scheduling, and supervision of seasonal staff and/or volunteers
  • Assess facilities and program equipment and inventory as needed or directed
  • Work with city software systems
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
  • One year experience in recreation and/or community oriented athletic/sports programs with increasing leadership responsibilities
  • One year customer service experience
  • General knowledge of soccer and other sports
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Desired Qualifications
  • In process of completing (or recently completed) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or a closely related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Previous experience with a parks and recreation agency or related setting
  • CPR/FA/AED and concussion training
  • Previous experience with recreation software

Physical Demands: Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, listen, and use hands and fingers dexterously; and frequently reach, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch while performing program and administrative duties. Position requires movement across indoor facilities and uneven outdoor terrain. Exerts up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and supplies.
Environmental Conditions: Work is performed in a parks and recreation environment including offices, recreation facilities, and outdoor athletic fields in varying weather conditions. Evening and weekend hours may be required. Hazards and risks are moderate and typical of community recreation programming.
