POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Research Scientist

Salary Grade 14 $53,808.00 - $64,340.00

Full-Time Position


The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking highly skilled and motivated candidate to fill a full-time Assistant Research Scientist position in the Immunobiology and Immunotherapy Laboratory. The applicant should have extensive experience/expertise in mouse ischemia models, behavioral testing, molecular/cellular analysis, and have the skills with molecular technology. The successful candidate will contribute to studies investigating mechanisms of brain injury, testing novel therapeutic strategies in preclinical models, as well as assessing the therapeutic efficacy of immunotherapy in neurodegenerative diseases. This is a grant-based full-time position for 40 hours per week.


Duties and Responsibilities:

An Assistant Research Scientist will work closely with the Neurochemistry research team members and share the responsibilities that include but are not limited to:


  • Design and perform in vivo experiments using mouse ischemia models (e.g., MCAO, photothrombotic, or global ischemia models).
  • Design and perform in vivo experiments to assess the efficacy of immunotherapy in mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Administer drugs by intramuscular injection, intravenous injection, or intraperitoneal injection.
  • Conduct neurological and behavioral assessments (e.g., rotarod, open field, Morris water maze, neurological deficit scoring).
  • Perform Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and related molecular and histological analyses.
  • Manage animal colonies, perform surgeries, and ensure compliance with IACUC and institutional animal care protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments, data, and results.
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to data interpretation, presentations, and publications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher degree in biology or relevant field
  • 1 year of experience in relevant field or 30 Graduate Hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with RNA-seq technology and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Nanobody and monoclonal antibody generation.
  • Familiarity with integrating multi-omics datasets (transcriptomics, proteomics, spatial data).
  • Track record of research publications or technical reports
