Position Objective
The Simulation Lab Technician will support the daily operations of the nursing program's simulation and skills labs, ensuring that all equipment, materials, and supplies are properly prepared, maintained, and organized. This role is essential for facilitating realistic clinical and lab experiences for nursing students, and the technician will work closely with faculty and staff to support the setup, execution, and breakdown of simulation scenarios and lab practice stations. The role involves maintaining simulation and lab technology, including manikins and audiovisual systems, lab equipment and supplies as well as collaborating with faculty to create and implement effective lab skills and simulate clinical experiences.

While the full annual salary range for this role is $54,042.97, to $70,544.98, successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range (Level C, Step 3) and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
This position is represented by the Clover Park Federation of Classified Employees, Local 4789.
Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)
Duty: Lab Operations
Tasks include:
  • Coordinate with faculty to set up and prepare simulation labs and skills labs according to the quarterly schedule.
  • Ensure all necessary materials, equipment, and supplies are ready for each simulation and lab session.
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment and materials after each simulation and lab session, ensuring they are properly stored and organized.
  • Operate simulation equipment, including high, medium, and low fidelity manikins,and virtual reality during clinical simulations.
  • Assist with the planning and setup of simulation scenarios, including moulage (wounds, injuries, etc.), manikin programming, and other required props.
Duty: Equipment & Supply Management
Tasks include:
  • Quarterly inventory of all simulation and lab equipment, including manikins,audio/visual tools, and other simulation and lab technologies.
  • Order and manage consumable supplies to ensure continuous stock levels.
  • Perform daily cleaning and routine maintenance on simulation and lab equipment, including manikin software updates and general troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for more advanced repairs and maintenance of simulation equipment.
  • Provide recommendations for the purchase of new or replacement equipment.
Duty: Simulation Technology Support
Tasks include:
  • Operate and maintain audiovisual (A/V) recording devices and virtual reality used for simulation sessions.
  • Work with IT and vendors to maintain and upgrade A/V recording platforms as needed.
  • Record and manage simulation sessions, ensuring proper storage and removal of files according to program policies.
  • Ensure that simulation (manikin-based and virtual reality) and lab equipment function correctly during simulations and lab.
  • Support students and faculty in the use of simulation technologies (manikin-based and virtual reality) including orientation, basic technology instruction, and real-time technical troubleshooting during scheduled activities.
Duty: Professional Development & Program Contributions
Tasks include:
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to setup, troubleshooting guides,and standard operating procedures to support consistency and continuity.
  • Stay current on simulation technologies and industry best practices through professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in nursing program meetings and events as time allows, including program tours and recruiting activities.
  • Assist with preparing the lab for accreditation visits and other program evaluations.
  • Support faculty with tours, open houses, and other public events related to the simulation lab.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with technology or related fields.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude for simulation equipment and Audiovisual technology.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as simulation schedules dictate.

Health Insurance / FSA
