  • Provide expertise in phonetics, phonology, lexicography, dialectology, and NLP.
  • Offer native speaker input and feedback on product quality.
  • Design and conduct experiments to evaluate transcription quality.
  • Develop manual and automated processes for multiple concurrent projects, including:
    • High-quality label alignments
    • Prosodic classification
    • POS identification and disambiguation
    • Targeted modeling data collection
    • User feedback integration
  • Create and refine text normalization and inverse text normalization processes.
  • Manage lexical and phrasal transcriptions with associated metadata.
  • Develop/evaluate large-scale labeled datasets (language ID, text normalization, G2P, audio alignments).
  • Analyze system metrics (user opinion, lexicon coverage, POS tagger performance) and implement remedies for identified issues.

Must-Have Skills
  • Native-level fluency in Egyptian Arabic; familiarity with Modern Standard Arabic.
  • Familiarity with command-line, scripting, and versioning systems (e.g., Git).
  • Phonetics/phonology expertise with IPA or SAMPA transcription OR regex experience.
