Job Description
Overview:
Responsible for the operations of the entire production facility, excluding purchasing, personnel and other activities not directly related to production. Oversight of all production employees and supervisors.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee operation of the entire production facility, including installation and repairs of major equipment.
  • Oversee and supervise all production supervisors and employees.
  • Initiate programs to set and maintain quality, efficiencies and production levels to high standards within the industry and communicate standards to staff.
  • Evaluate new trends (methods and machinery, safety programs and standards, etc.) within the manufacturing industry. Make recommendations and assist in planning, equipment purchases, and budgeting.
  • Maintain excellent working conditions, a safe work environment, and high morale within the plant.
  • Keep Plant Manager (or General Manager) informed regarding problems or situations that may affect the overall production operation of the plant.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Strong math/algebra skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED plus college and/or appropriate technical courses
  • Five years experience as a proven manager
  • Five years corrugated manufacturing experience
  • Candidates are preferred who offer the following:
    • College degree

Leadership Requirements:
  • Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead an effective and efficient meeting.

  • Teaching skills in order to function effectively as a teacher for his personnel both in the technical and administrative parts of the position.

  • Excellent crisis manager who demonstrates that he/she has a high emotional control under adverse conditions and can lead his/her personnel to a successful resolution.

  • Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understands and demonstrates positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques.

  • Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.

  • Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative of the company.

Physical Demands:
  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees - 110 degrees Fahrenheit).

  • Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.
