ABOUT THE ROLE
Trojan Battery Company is looking for a Production Supervisor. This position will provide you with the opportunity to partner with a dynamic and analytical group who set a high bar for innovation and success in a high-growth environment.  The Production Supervisor will direct, supervise, organize, and assign work, while maintaining a high quality and productive climate.  Utilize management skills as well as hands on experience to accomplish goals. Adopt and practice the highest standards of safety for both the employee and the environment.  Maintain a high standard of quality in Production Departments. Implement lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement techniques. Set goals and train department Team Leads and employees. Assist and support Trojan Management.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead in the assigning of all production activities for all shifts.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by assuring the facility meets all government regulations as set forth by OSHA, the company standards and any others that may apply.
  • Ability to assume all responsibilities of Emergency Response Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the product quality/product workmanship, process control, work techniques and methods.
  • Six Sigma tools to improve the processes and generate change to eliminate waste.
  • Utilize Plex to manage inventory, produce schedules, create orders, report production and receive product.
  • Perform production planning operations utilizing MRP outputs, inputs, and signal reports, pegging planned orders insuring the proper inputs will drive work orders to on time completion providing finished product WIP materials to the Assembly Department.
  • Monitor and control budgets for all departments for the manufacturing facility utilizing P.M.C.
  • Monitor and set up controls for scrap.  Evaluate data to improve process to reduce scrap in all manufacturing departments for the manufacturing facility.
  • Utilizing Plex and reviewing physical inventories plan and schedule change-overs to equipment and review equipment set ups.
  • Assign work to Team Leads to assure a safe environment, and high-quality product and a productive environment.
  • Organize all production activities for departments to include planning and operations of the assembly lines. Review production schedules, materials and manpower resources to coordinate personnel in order to maximize production objectives, while maintaining quality and meeting output requirements.
  • Confers with assigned employees regarding process and materials problems, and coordinates with support groups in the resolution of problems affecting schedules and production.
  • Provide information and collaborate with Environmental, Quality Control, Maintenance, Engineering, Scheduling, and Manufacturing, to assist and / or to implement programs related to cost reductions, work simplification, dies/ tooling tryouts, methods, procedures, scheduling, planning, machine repairing, and maintenance schedules.
  • Responsible for implementation of safety and environmental devices/ equipment, general housekeeping and maintaining a constant alert for hazardous conditions and / or work practices.
  • Maintain and train an adequate and efficient work force in accordance with skill requirements, work levels, schedules, and work hours requirements.
  • Attend training classes, technical and administrative courses, keep abreast of new developments relevant to the technical, administrative and supervisory aspects related to the position.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to production manager.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual production metrics/KPIs.
  • Analyze plant floor operations, identifies trends and implements corrective action as necessary. Conduct meetings with floor personnel to ensure work is properly delegated and deadlines are met. Implement continuous improvement in health, safety, security, and/or environmental practices.
  • Work closely with support staff such as Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Supervisor, Materials/Warehouse to resolve issues.
  • Follows quality system procedures. Performs other duties as required or directed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervise many direct reports. Responsible for successfully managing staff through effective team building, goal setting/attainment, motivating, coaching, and providing timely feedback.
  • Creates, promotes, and sustains a high-performance culture by actively employee managing performance.
  • Select new talent and coach and develop current talent and address performance issues.
  • Foster employee engagement and retention management.
  • Evaluate performance, provides feedback, and completes annual performance reviews.
  • Get involved, direct and supervise equipment set-ups and operations. 
  • Plan, organize and delegate work assignments to meet schedules and best utilize man-hours, skills and equipment.
  • Manage employee work schedules and labor hours in time and attendance system.
  • Be an integral part to communicate information to subordinates and to train employees under your responsibility.
  • Organize and assign work to crews utilizing personnel skills, knowledge, work hours and equipment capacities to the best advantage for cost, schedule and quality. Assure safety training and safety practices are implemented and followed.
  • Identify cross-training needs and resources. 
  • Train and develop employees for job advancement and enhancement. Provide an environment that instills good morale.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working at a supervisory level within a manufacturing operation; battery industry experience preferred. 
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree required (Bachelor's degree highly preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including ability to resolve disputes and observe confidentiality are essential.
  • Ability to multi-task Highly motivated self-starter Must be able to provide effective leadership for subordinates, while building a teamwork environment.  
  • Must have an open, supportive management style, with the self-confidence to accept guidance and direction as needed.
  • Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.
  • Proficient in ERP/Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
  • Knowledge and related experience in an ISO environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills are essential (ability to interface with internal and external customers).
  • Must be flexible with shift availability.
  • Proficient in English. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
