Who You Are:

Reporting to the Product Development Manager, the Product Developer drives all aspects of new product commercialization, including the creation of product specifications and labels. The Product Developer coordinates R&D and commercialization activities carried out by external partners including flavor houses, contract manufacturers, raw material suppliers, and design agencies. The Product Developer participates in new product ideation, formulation, packaging development, manufacturing scale-up, and product stability assessments.
Important Note: This is not a lab or benchtop R&D position. The Product Developer focuses on documentation, supplier collaboration, labeling, compliance, and cross-functional product development

What You're Good At:

  • Drive rapid development of new products based on Nutrabolt's strategic objectives, as identified during the stage gate process.

  • Create new product briefs for external R&D partners, outlining formula and product requirements.

  • Provide direction to external flavor house in order to attain desired sensory attributes

  • Design and administer basic sensory studies

  • Occasionally perform benchtop work to prepare product samples (not a laboratory environment)

  • Develop and maintain finished product specifications for assigned projects

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure formula meets functional, compliance, costing, and consumer acceptability requirements.

  • Validate packaging components: Size/appearance (can, bottle, lid, scoop); Label type and sizing for accurate design creation.

  • In collaboration with Quality department, establish appropriate finished good processing parameters, and raw material/finished good testing methodology.

  • Label development

  • Coordinate claims and marketing copy development with internal stakeholders, namely Marketing and Regulatory departments.

  • Provide necessary information to external designers for artwork development, including label content, packaging format and dielines.

  • Identify the appropriate vendor for printed packaging; Review and approve print proofing.

  • Label artwork setup across multiple printers, multiple dielines, and multiple proof approvals

  • Maintain technical documents for all project components within internal system for reference and archival

  • Specification sheets

  • Approved label artwork

  • Raw material documentation

  • Creation and management of product codes, BOMs and UPCs

  • Coordinate third party certification/registration process as needed (NSF, LGC, Circana, WERCs, Kosher)

  • Other objectives as assigned; May include but not limited to

  • Ideation of new products and functional ingredients.

  • Technical advisement for Quality, Regulatory, Brand, and contract manufacturers

  • Occasional travel to manufacturing sites to oversee pilots/first production or to assist with audits/new supplier qualification.

  • Occasional travel to flavor houses to assist with onsite flavor development.

  • Occasional attendance at industry trade shows or conferences.

  • Review of scientific literature or new clinical study results.

What You Contribute:

  • BA/BS in chemistry, biology, food science, chemical engineering, or other relevant science degree.

  • Up to 2 years of experience in R&D or product development of consumer packaged goods (CPG), relevant to the job functions described above. Internship experience is applicable.

  • Interested in making an effort to learn about the industry and Nutrabolt's unique operating style.

  • Able to deliver high-quality work against tight timelines.

  • Able to adapt quickly to evolving organizational goals, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Familiar with cGMP guidelines and FDA regulations related to the dietary supplement and/or food and beverage industry.

Please note: This role requires working onsite five days per week.
