Job description

Beacon Modular โ€“ Modular Electrical Solutions

About Beacon Modular

Beacon Modular exists to help construction projects perform better.

Our goal is to bring greater certainty to electrical construction by designing and manufacturing modular electrical skids and systems in a controlled environment before they reach the jobsite. By combining field experience, engineering expertise, and scalable manufacturing, we help improve quality, reduce uncertainty, and support more predictable project execution for some of the most complex commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects in the country.

We believe the best project outcomes begin long before installation starts. That's why we've built a company focused on preparation, craftsmanship, and execution.

As Beacon continues to grow, we're looking for individuals who want to grow with us and help build something meaningful.

Position Summary:

Full Time / In Office / Imperial, PA

The Product Designer is responsible for developing production-ready layouts, assembly plans, fabrication documentation, and planning deliverables that support Beacon Modular's manufacturing operations. This role works closely with engineering, project management, procurement, and production teams to ensure modular assemblies are designed for efficient fabrication, transportation, installation, and field execution.

The ideal candidate combines technical design skills with strong planning capabilities and a passion for creating repeatable, scalable manufacturing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain production-ready layouts, skid arrangements, assembly drawings, and fabrication documentation for modular electrical systems.
  • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), material takeoffs, and production documentation to support manufacturing operations.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and equipment information to ensure designs are accurate, complete, and fabrication-ready.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, procurement, and production teams throughout project planning and execution.
  • Assist in the development of modular assembly concepts, equipment layouts, and manufacturing solutions that improve constructability, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Support production planning efforts by identifying material, labor, workflow, and fabrication requirements.
  • Evaluate designs and layouts for constructability, manufacturability, transportation, installation, and overall project execution.
  • Develop and maintain standardized layouts, templates, design libraries, and repeatable manufacturing solutions.
  • Perform quality reviews of drawings, layouts, production documentation, and bills of materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Identify design, planning, and production-related issues and work collaboratively with project teams to develop solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing efficiency, quality, standardization, and labor productivity.
  • Assist with first-of-kind (FOAK) projects, incorporating lessons learned into future designs and planning processes.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in customer, vendor, and internal planning meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings, electrical drawings, fabrication drawings, and specifications.
  • Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and file-sharing platforms.
  • Developing layouts, equipment arrangements, and fabrication documentation.
  • Coordinating planning activities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Working within construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments.

Preferred

  • Experience with modular construction, skid fabrication, electrical prefabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution equipment, switchgear, PLC systems, MCCs, or data center infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or production planning systems.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar design software.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
