Job description

Job Title: Professor of Musical Theatre (Part Time)

Department: Theatre and Music

Reports To: Chair, Department of Theatre and Music

University Mission: Rochester Christian University is a Christ-centered institution that empowers students to lead lives of personal and professional significance while serving God in a changing world.

Position Summary: Part-time Theatre and Music faculty. Teach 12 credit hours per academic year.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED::

  • M.A., M.F.A or Ph.D. required (academic emphasis in Music or Musical Theatre)

  • Experience in Vocal Coaching, Music Direction and/or Choral Direction

  • Ability to play piano/accompany.

  • Experience in Stage Directing and Acting Coaching is desirable.

  • Successful teaching experience at the college level is preferred, as well as an understanding of the liberal arts philosophy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Faculty

  • Faculty load: 12 credit hours per academic year

  • Develop learning activities for students, report accurate grades, attendance, and feedback to students.

  • Stay up to date with current developments in the field.

  • Provide input to the Chair, Director, and/or Dean for planning regarding program effectiveness; assess student learning of both institutional and program level outcomes.

  • Hold a minimum of five (5) office hours per week.

Theatre and Music

  • Coordinate and oversee curriculum, assessment, and student learning at all 2 levels of private voice instruction

  • Serve as Director or Co-Director of Music Ensemble

  • Help to Plan and Coordinate RCU Music Events

  • Participate in departmental recruiting initiatives

  • Submit annual report forms and coordinate payment for music royalties through BMI, SESAC, and ASCAP and ensure compliance

  • Schedule and coordinate piano tunings and instrument repairs.

  • In collaboration with Chair, Artistic Director of Theatre, Faculty and Staff participate in departmental season planning.

  • Perform other duties as assigned
