This is a hands-on newsroom leadership role overseeing nightly newscasts and streaming coverage in a fast-paced, high-expectations environment. We're looking for a decisive editorial leader who can drive coverage forward, make smart decisions quickly, communicate clearly under pressure, and guide experienced teams through evolving news coverage and complex editorial situations in real time.
We believe great leadership requires both high empathy and high accountability; you will be expected to champion a supportive, respectful culture while maintaining the rigorous standards required to win the market.
What you'll do:
Lead:
• Lead the editorial execution of nightly newscasts and streaming coverage with a strong emphasis on urgency, accuracy, enterprise storytelling, and breaking news.
• Lead producers, anchors, reporters, photographers, editors, and digital teams to deliver compelling content across broadcast, streaming, mobile, web, and social platforms.
• Lead daily editorial meetings, rundown meetings, post-show reviews, and coverage planning for major news events with a strong focus on multi-platform execution.
• Lead, coach and develop producers and newsroom staff through clear, timely feedback, regular performance conversations, and real-time editorial guidance.
Editorial Judgment:
• Drive breaking news coverage by continuously evolving content as new information develops and ensuring updates make it to air, streaming, digital, and social platforms in real time.
• Oversee streaming-first coverage that is live, conversational, flexible, and responsive to developing news throughout the day.
• Make fast, confident editorial decisions during breaking news and severe weather coverage while maintaining calm, clear communication under pressure.
• Ensure all content - including scripts, graphics, teases, headlines, push alerts, and digital presentation - is accurate, fair, ethical, legally sound, conversational, and visually compelling.
Collaboration:
• Work closely with newsroom leadership to execute editorial strategy, audience growth initiatives, and cross-platform content goals.
FOX6 covers one of the most competitive and story-rich markets in the country, and we're looking for an innovative newsroom leader who thrives in high-pressure environments and is committed to winning breaking news coverage on every platform.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous experience as an Executive Producer in a television newsroom is required.
• Proven ability to lead experienced newsroom teams and make confident editorial decisions in fast-moving breaking news situations.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to proactively drive coverage forward in dynamic news environments.
• Strong understanding of streaming, broadcast and digital audience strategy, social media, and multi-platform storytelling.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and people-management skills.
• Strong understanding of journalistic ethics, legal standards, AP style, and newsroom workflow.
• Sense of urgency and a passion for impactful storytelling, breaking news, and live coverage across platforms.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment and work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, as newsroom needs require.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.
