Job description

KRON4 News in San Francisco is seeking a Multi-Platform Producer to help create and showcase compelling content across broadcast, streaming, digital, social, and emerging platforms.

Multi-Platform Producers are platform-agnostic storytellers who focus on delivering the strongest version of a story regardless of platform. They evaluate each story and determine the most effective format, presentation, and distribution strategy to inform, engage, and serve audiences wherever they consume content.

This role plays a key part in maximizing audience engagement by curating, packaging, prioritizing, and presenting content in a strategic and compelling manner across all platforms. Working closely with Content Managers and other newsroom teams, Multi-Platform Producers write and edit content, create graphics and promotional elements, oversee live and recorded content feeds, and ensure stories are presented accurately, effectively, and in ways that connect with audiences.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with an understanding of audience behavior, content presentation, and multiplatform publishing. Candidates should have an understanding of, or a willingness to learn, the journalistic principles that guide our approach to content creation. Under the supervision of Content Managers, all content is developed through a lens of accuracy, credibility, fairness, and audience service while embracing innovative storytelling techniques.

At KRON4, Multi-Platform Producers are not assigned to a single platform. They are responsible for evaluating content and determining how it can best inform, engage, and serve audiences across broadcast, streaming, digital, social, and emerging platforms.

This will be a regular, full-time, non-union, non-exempt position. Schedule will be flexible but may include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and produce content for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
  • Build, stack, and showcase newscasts and streaming programs.
  • Serve as a platform-agnostic storyteller, identifying the best format, presentation, and distribution strategy for each story.
  • Adapt stories for broadcast, streaming, digital, social, and emerging platforms, tailoring content to the strengths and audience expectations of each platform.
  • Create graphics, banners, teases, headlines, and promotional content.
  • Monitor live and recorded content feeds and coordinate content presentation.
  • Collaborate with reporters, photographers, anchors, Content Managers, and other newsroom teams.
  • Monitor audience engagement and analytics to inform content decisions.
  • Prioritize breaking news and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure all content meets newsroom standards for accuracy, fairness, and credibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience using broadcast news systems or a digital CMS.
  • Experience writing, producing, or publishing content using journalistic standards.
  • Experience with non-linear video editing software.
  • Strong writing, copy-editing, and headline-writing skills.
  • Understanding of digital, streaming, and social media content strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong news judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Compensation: $33.65+/hr. to commensurate with experience and skill level
