Job description

About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use):

13

The Role

S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking a highly technical and commercially driven Director, Multi-Asset Product Management to join our Multi-Asset Product Management team in New York.

This senior role will be responsible for leading the development, management, and commercial promotion of systematic multi-asset and equity derivatives indices, with a particular focus on strategies that incorporate options and derivatives. The role will support a broad range of index-linked investment solutions, including ETFs, structured products, insurance products, derivatives overlay strategies, volatility-controlled strategies, and other multi-asset applications.

The ideal candidate will bring deep quantitative expertise, hands‑on experience developing options‑based strategies, and a strong understanding of how derivatives can be incorporated into transparent, rules‑based index methodologies. This role requires someone who can bridge highly technical index construction with real‑world commercial application, partnering closely with clients, Sales, Research & Design, Index Governance, Marketing, Technology, and other internal stakeholders.

This is a highly technical product management role that also requires strong commercial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a global matrixed organization without direct reporting authority.

The Team

The Multi-Asset Product Management team at S&P Dow Jones Indices is responsible for setting product strategy, driving product development, and managing the long‑term commercial success of a global suite of multi‑asset indices.

The team develops solutions for a broad range of client segments, including banks, asset managers, ETF issuers, insurance companies, wealth platforms, and institutional investors. The product suite includes strategies focused on index‑linked insurance products, structured products, derivatives overlays, volatility control, retirement solutions, asset allocation, and other systematic multi‑asset strategies.

The team has a global mandate and works closely with regional commercial teams and clients to identify market opportunities, launch innovative index solutions, and support adoption of S&P DJI’s multi‑asset capabilities.

Responsibilities and Impact

The Director will play a critical role in shaping and executing the product strategy for S&P DJI’s multi‑asset and equity derivatives index suite. This position will be expected to serve as a senior subject matter expert, lead complex product development initiatives, and contribute directly to the long‑term growth and commercial success of the product line.

  • Product Development: Lead the research, development, and launch of systematic multi‑asset and equity derivatives indices, with a particular focus on options‑based strategies. Partner with internal stakeholders to create transparent, rules‑based methodologies for use across ETFs, structured products, insurance solutions, annuities, and institutional applications. Influence cross‑functional stakeholders across Product Management, Research & Design, Index Governance, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Technology to drive outcomes without direct management authority.

  • Client Engagement: Serve as a senior subject matter expert in client meetings, product pitches, trainings, conferences, and other external forums. Partner with Sales and Client Coverage teams to translate complex derivatives‑based index strategies into clear commercial narratives and client solutions. Contribute to thought leadership and product positioning, including presentations, white papers, client materials, market commentary, internal education, and external product messaging.

  • Market Intelligence: Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, client needs, and the competitive landscape, including QIS desks, investment banks, exchanges, structured product platforms, ETF issuers, insurance providers, and other index providers. Use these insights to identify new product opportunities and inform product strategy.

  • Product Management & Commercial Growth: Support and manage the existing multi‑asset index suite with a focus on growing adoption, linked assets, and revenue. Monitor product performance, market relevance, and commercial traction, and identify opportunities for product enhancements, repositioning, and lifecycle management.

What’s In It For You
  • The opportunity to lead product strategy and innovation for a technically sophisticated and commercially important global index product suite.

  • Direct involvement in developing systematic multi‑asset and equity derivatives indices used across ETFs, structured products, insurance products, and institutional solutions.

  • Regular interaction with senior clients, commercial leaders, quantitative researchers, index governance stakeholders, and product leaders across S&P Dow Jones Indices.

  • A visible role as an internal and external subject matter expert for multi‑asset, options‑based, and derivatives‑linked index strategies.

  • The ability to shape long‑term product direction in an area of growing client demand and market relevance.

  • A challenging and entrepreneurial role requiring both technical depth and commercial judgment.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000-$225,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a senior product leader with strong quantitative skills, direct experience using derivatives in index or investment strategy design, and the ability to operate effectively at the intersection of product, research, and commercial execution.

The successful candidate will have hands‑on experience developing options‑based strategies to solve for specific investment outcomes, such as income generation, downside risk management, volatility control, participation enhancement, defined outcomes, hedging, or other systematic exposures.

This individual must be comfortable discussing detailed methodology design with quantitative stakeholders while also articulating the commercial value proposition to clients, sales teams, and senior leaders.

Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in systematic index / QIS / product strategy, or in derivatives‑focused roles such as structuring, trading, or quantitative strategy at an investment bank, exchange, or similar financial firm.

  • Strong quantitative background with a highly technical understanding of index construction and derivatives.

  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience developing options‑based strategies and translating different payoff/outcome objectives into systematic, investable rules.

  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders cross‑functionally (Product, Research & Design, Sales, Governance, Marketing, Operations, Technology) and drive outcomes without direct people‑management authority.

  • Clear commercial mindset, including experience supporting product adoption, client engagement, and long‑term revenue growth for an index or derivatives‑linked strategy.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., finance, mathematics, economics, statistics, engineering, or computer science).

  • Right to Work Requirements: This role is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience across multi‑asset derivatives indices, volatility/overlay strategies, or equity derivatives index applications used by ETFs, structured products, or insurance solutions.

  • Familiarity with index methodology governance, launch lifecycle, and operational considerations for investable indices.

  • Advanced degree and/or professional credentials (e.g., CFA, CAIA) and/or programming skills (Python, R, Matlab).

  • Experience building models, backtests, simulations, risk analytics, or index strategy prototypes.

  • Experience presenting at client meetings, conferences, webinars, sales trainings, or other public forums.

  • Strong understanding of the competitive landscape across QIS desks, investment banks, exchanges, index providers, ETF issuers, and structured product platforms.
