Sportico: Senior Director, Events
Sportico, the leading authority on the business of sports, covering the intersection of sports, finance, media, law, technology, real estate, sponsorship, private equity, and culture is hiring an entrepreneurial Senior Director of Events to lead the strategy, growth and execution of one of the company's most important business platforms.
The Events Senior Director will own Sportico's expanding portfolio of live experiences-from developing new conference franchises and executive summits to driving sponsorship revenue, ticket sales, programming, audience growth, and long-term business strategy. The Senior Director will have a vision to create unique experiences in what has become a crowded marketplace. Working across editorial, sales, marketing, operations, and executive leadership, the Senior Director will create industry-defining events that convene the world's most influential owners, commissioners, investors, athletes, executives, policymakers, and innovators.
The successful candidate understands that exceptional events are both world-class editorial experiences and scalable businesses. They are equally comfortable selling a presenting sponsorship, recruiting a Fortune 100 CEO to speak, building a five-year growth strategy or launching an entirely new event franchise.
Sportico values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
  • Lead Sportico's overall live events strategy, business development, and long-term growth.
  • Oversee planning and execution of a portfolio of Sportico's flagship events, including invite-only bespoke gatherings.
  • Partner closely with the sales to create and sell high-value sponsorship opportunities and with Sportico's newsroom to ensure programming reflects the publication's editorial excellence.
  • Develop innovative strategies to boost ticket sales and attendee engagement.
  • Work with marketing to maximize audience growth, event visibility, and post-event engagement.
  • Travel frequently to oversee major events and develop new business opportunities.

Event Portfolio
The Senior Director will oversee a growing portfolio of premium events spanning the global sports industry, including:

  • Executive leadership summits
  • Emerging sectors shaping the future of sports business

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience leading conferences, live events, sponsorship sales, business development, executive programming, or media events.
  • Demonstrated success growing event businesses through sponsorships, ticket sales, partnerships, and new product development.
  • Proven ability to build and monetize premium B2B conferences and executive experiences.
  • Experience recruiting high-profile speakers, moderators, and industry leaders.
  • Strong understanding of the global sports industry and its executive ecosystem.
