Job description

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
    • The Medical Record Assistant is responsible for the medical record processing of the patient records, either concurrently and/or respectively as assigned. This is a key role in the department which interacts with various departmental and hospital personnel.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • One year office experience is required. One year medical record experience is preferred. Experience with terminal digit filing preferred.
    • Education and Training:
      • High school graduate is required. Medical Terminology preferred. Basic computer skills preferred.
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • None
    • Other Requirements:
      • Professional demeanor. Demonstrated excellent keyboarding capabilities preferred. Working knowledge of microsoft word and excel preferred. Demonstrated competency in alphabetical filing. Demonstrated ability to perform very detailed tasks efficiently and effectively. Proven ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple situations at any given time. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Must be able to positively interact with co-workers, other visitors, physicians and Medical Center personnel. Must be very responsible and detail oriented. Demonstrated ability to contribute to team and follow through on assignments. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Knowledge and experience with Meditech preferred. Ability to work at multiple campus sites.
