Kids Connection Schools is seeking a passionate and engaging Mandarin Teacher to lead our Mandarin language and cultural programming within our Extended Day and Summer Camp programs. About the RoleAs our Mandarin Teacher, you will create a safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate learning space where elementary-aged students build Mandarin language skills and cultural understanding. This position blends structured Mandarin instruction with the warmth and energy of an after-school and summer camp setting.
Youโll collaborate closely with Extended Day staff, classroom teachers, and school leadership to ensure programming aligns with Kids Connectionโs mission and student-centered values.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Program Leadership
Plan and teach engaging, age-appropriate Mandarin lessons
Support listening, speaking, reading, and cultural learning
Incorporate hands-on activities, games, music, art, and celebrations
Differentiate instruction for varying language levels
Support homework time when part of the schedule
Prepare students for performances and school showcases as needed
Student Supervision & Care
Supervise students to ensure safety and positive behavior
Build trusting relationships that foster confidence and belonging
Participate fully in program activities, including outdoor play and special events
Teamwork & Communication
Collaborate with Extended Day staff and school leadership
Communicate student progress and needs professionally
Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organization
Transportation (as needed)
QualificationsRequired
Bachelorโs degree (Education, Chinese Language, or related field preferred)
Minimum 2 years of experience teaching Mandarin to children
Native or near-native Mandarin proficiency
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Valid California driverโs license and clean driving record
CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to meet fingerprinting and licensing requirements
Preferred
Background in TCSOL/TCFL or elementary education
Year-round availability, including summer programming
Bilingual English/Mandarin communication skills
Schedule & Employment DetailsSchool Year: MondayโFriday, approximately 12:00โ6:00 pm
Summer: Morning hours; schedule varies
30 hours/week = full-time employment
