Compensation: $20 per hour. Position includes retirement benefits through Colorado Public Employee Retirement Association (copera.org).

Position Description:
Substitute teachers at AXIS will provide core instruction to grades Preschool - 5th utilizing lesson plans provided by classroom teachers. Partner language substitutes will provide coverage in French, Mandarin, and/or Spanish classes, as well as ELA if desired.
Substitute Teacher Responsibilities
Lesson Plans:
  • Review teacher plans for the day upon arrival at AXIS and get clarification on assignment, as needed.
  • Follows through on lesson plans provided and leaves not for regular classroom teacher regarding students' completion of tasks, behavior, etc.

Student Support:
  • Substitutes will follow AXIS positive behavior supports protocols
  • Substitutes will follow the lunch, recess, duty schedules (SEL Time) as indicated in the teacher plans

Administrative:
  • Attendance (either on paper or calling the front office) will be taken at 8:05 am and 12:35 pm (unless subbing for a specialist teacher)

Other Duties:
  • Performs any additional duties as requested by the School Principal, which are consistent with the effective and orderly operation of this position, and the school-wide educational goals. Salary

Qualifications:
  • Substitutes must posses either a Bachelor's Degree or have received a CDE Substitute Authorization
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred
  • Ability to reflect upon teaching practices and respond to constructive feedback
  • Proven willingness and ability to collaborate with a diverse community of colleagues, parents/guardians and community members.
  • Partner language substitutes must have basic proficiency in French, Mandarin, or Spanish.
