Job description

School: TBD (Elementary)

Salary/Wage: Per Support Staff Professional Agreement Salary Schedule; 10 month, 32.5hours/week

Reports to: Building Principal 

Job Goal: To assist in providing a well organized, smoothly functioning school in which all students can take full advantage of the total educational program. Duties will vary based on individual and classroom needs. 

Qualifications: 

  •  60 College Credits/Associates Degree/Successful completion of paraprofessional assessment 

  •  Basic clerical skills (i.e. typing, filing, copying) 

  •  First Aid/CPR training and certification preferred 

  •  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable for the position 

Job Responsibilities: 

1. Maintains records and performs clerical work at the direction of professional staff member. 

2. Works with individuals, small groups, or classes of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher or librarian. 

3. Guides independent work, enrichment work, or remedial work that is supervised by the teacher, librarian, or administrator. 

4. Works at the request of supervisor and/or teacher with individual students with special needs. 

5. Assists students in the library/media center when appropriate. 

6. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom and/or office. 

7. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and strict confidentiality regarding student and staff information. 

8. Participates in inservice training programs, as needed or assigned. 

9. Performs such other instructional or clerical tasks as the administration may from time to time assign within the realm of the position.

10. Responsibilities may include toileting, assisting with feeding and lifting in addition to physical management training. 

11. Supports and promotes the District's Core Ethical Values with students, colleagues and parents.
