Job description

Inventory Specialist

Hood Container Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Inventory Specialist to join our Packaging Solutions plant in Ft Wayne, IN. This role is critical to ensuring accurate inventory control, efficient material flow, and support for production and warehouse operations.

Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Train and support cycle counting personnel.
  • Perform cycle counts and participate in all physical inventories.
  • Support quality/data entry in production areas when inventory issues arise.
  • Complete end-of-run procedures, including cycle counts and adjustments.
  • Ensure finished products are prepared for warehouse return.
  • Execute product disposals as directed by the Production Coordinator.
  • Assist with preparation of customer samples.
  • Ensure timely put-away of finished goods and raw materials.
  • Track inventory movement and maintain data accuracy.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to maintain correct stock levels.
  • Conduct location audits and assist in resolving missing pallet issues.
  • Organize and audit staging locations.
  • Schedule and prioritize forklift team activities; ensure order-picking goals are met daily.
  • Communicate with internal teams on order status and special handling needs.
  • Serve as liaison with third-party logistics providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and inventory transactions.
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, warehouse, and customer service teams.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
