JOB PURPOSE:

The Assistant Groundskeeper supports the upkeep, appearance, and overall presentation of the property’s exterior grounds and landscaped areas. This role assists in maintaining a clean, polished, and welcoming environment that reflects the high standards of the organization and enhances the guest experience. Working under the direction of the Groundskeeper and/or property leadership, the Assistant Groundskeeper performs routine landscaping, property maintenance, seasonal upkeep, and general outdoor labor to ensure the grounds remain safe, attractive, and well-maintained year-round.

Requirements:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with maintaining lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, walkways, patios, parking areas, and outdoor guest spaces.
  • Perform routine landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, planting, mulching, pruning, watering, and leaf removal.
  • Support seasonal property maintenance activities such as snow removal, salting, seasonal planting, irrigation preparation, and outdoor furniture setup or storage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of exterior spaces by removing debris, litter, fallen branches, and other hazards.
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of flowers, shrubs, trees, and decorative landscaping features.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools including mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge clippers, and basic hand tools.
  • Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, irrigation issues, or property damage to leadership promptly.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown for outdoor functions, weddings, or special events as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to equipment operation, chemical handling, and outdoor working conditions.
  • Support overall property presentation by ensuring outdoor areas consistently meet cleanliness and appearance standards.
  • Work collaboratively with facilities, maintenance, and operations teams to support daily property needs.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Foundational knowledge of landscaping, lawn care, gardening, or grounds maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high property appearance standards.
  • Ability to work independently while following direction and completing assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support team and operational needs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimumof one year of landscaping, groundskeeping, maintenance, or relatedoutdoor work experience.
  • Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, maintenance, or outdoor labor experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate landscaping tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor with a consistent pace and attention to safety.
