Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Soccer Field Supervisor will monitor the soccer fields during practices and games and is responsible for setting up and taking down equipment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively support the agency’s risk management protocol to effectively control and reduce accidents
  • Obey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Safety Committee, and attend and participate in required safety training
  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs
  • Create a safe, engaging environment through the framework of soccer practices and games
  • Set up and take down soccer goals (as needed) and equipment
  • Oversee first aid station during practice and games
  • Complete accident/incident reports in full and submit to the direct supervisor
  • Interact positively with youth, coaches, parents/guardians, and team members
  • Communicate with other Park District staff, supervisors, coaches, parents & players as needed
  • Actively uphold and contribute to the Wilmette Park District's Comprehensive and Strategic Plan, including its Guiding Principles and Strategic Priorities.
  • Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents.
  • Obey the safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the department.
  • Become familiar with and follow safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District, including, but not limited to, fire, severe weather, and evacuation procedures.
  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to the immediate supervisor or to the Human Resources/Risk Management department.
  • Attend and participate in required safety training.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least one year of experience playing soccer

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to project across a large area using clear and concise language
  • Ability to maintain self-control and composure in high-stress and/or difficult situations
  • Ability to work independently and to problem-solve

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons
  • Must be able to run back and forth along the length of a soccer field
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. for 25 yards

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Illinois Driver’s license
  • Must possess CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring, provided by the Park District

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The general work area is outdoors and is subject to seasonal weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor conditions vary by season.
