Utilities Assistant @ Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

Job description

Most resort jobs put you in a room. This one puts you everywhere - underground, on-site, and out in the open air of the Oregon Coast. As a Utilities Assistant at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, you'll work alongside the Utilities Manager to keep the resort's water treatment plant, wastewater systems, and plumbing infrastructure running the way guests and staff depend on. It's hands-on, technically varied work that matters every single day - even if guests never see it.

About Bandon Dunes Golf Resort:
Bandon Dunes is a world-class golf resort located on the Oregon Coast near the charming community of Bandon. Guests come to experience golf as it was meant to be at Bandon Dunes' six distinct golf courses. That includes five 18-hole courses, which all rank among the top 16 public courses in the United States, according to Golf Digest. The resort is also home to two 'Courses with a Mission': Bandon Preserve, an award-winning par-3 course, and Shorty's, which opened in 2024. All net proceeds from both courses fund the Bandon Dunes Charitable Foundation, supporting communities along the South Coast of Oregon.

Beyond premier golf, guests delight in a variety of dining options at Bandon Dunes' collection of restaurants. Whether you're looking to enjoy locally-sourced, Pacific-Northwest cuisine accompanied by an award-winning wine list or prefer kicking back in a Scottish-style setting with traditional pub fare and local microbrews, there is something for everyone.

Working at Bandon Dunes is a dream for golf fans, outdoor enthusiasts, and hospitality professionals alike. The Bandon Dunes team works together to create trips of a lifetime for our guests. We are passionate stewards of our resort, community, and environment. As an endlessly curious group, we ask questions, share ideas, and always look for a better way. With a hard-working attitude, we help guide our guests through their pure golf experience, immersed in Oregon's natural beauty and away from the demands of daily life.
What You'll Do:
  • Keep the water flowing. You'll assist with operation and maintenance of both the water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant - taking readings, running tests, and keeping accurate lab records that meet Oregon state requirements.
  • Maintain the infrastructure guests count on. From water and sewer line repairs to septic tanks, grease traps, wells, and groundwater systems, you'll help keep the resort's underground utilities in reliable working condition.
  • Handle the plumbing side of things. When sinks, toilets, or basic plumbing needs attention across the resort, you'll be part of the crew that fixes it. You'll bring working knowledge of plumbing and electrical basics to daily problem-solving.
  • Stay on top of compliance. You'll help ensure the resort remains in compliance with state and federal regulations by completing work orders accurately, maintaining thorough records, and monitoring contractor work on-site.
  • Support the team's logistics. You'll assist with sourcing and procuring the parts and materials needed to keep maintenance running smoothly through the resort's purchasing system.
  •
What You'll Bring:
  • You've worked in utilities, plumbing, or a related trade. Two years of hands-on experience in utilities maintenance, plumbing, or a similar field is what we're looking for. A degree is a plus, but practical experience matters more here.
  • You're comfortable operating equipment. You have experience with forklifts, tractors, or front-end loaders - or you're willing to learn. Knowing your way around heavy equipment is part of how this job gets done.
  • You can handle the physical demands. This is outdoor, physically demanding work in all kinds of Oregon Coast weather. You're in good physical condition and ready to dig in - literally.
  • You're reliable when it matters most. Utilities don't follow a 9-to-5 schedule. You're available for on-call situations and flexible about hours when the work requires it.
  • You're on a path toward certification. Certifications to operate wastewater systems, water treatment, distribution, and collection systems are required for this role. You may not have them yet - and that's okay - but you'll need to obtain them once on board.
Perks and Benefits For Full Time Employees:
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Enjoy a well-rounded benefits package that covers your health, wellness, and financial future.
  • Paid Time Off: Take the time you need to relax and recharge with our PTO plan.
  • Free Golf Privileges: Tee off at some of the most iconic courses in the world with complimentary golf access.
  • Quarterly Incentives: When our team meets resort-wide performance goals, we get rewarded.
  • Complimentary Lunch: Stay energized with a complimentary lunch in our Staff Cafe during your shift.
  • Resort Discounts: Save on dining and merchandise throughout the resort.
  • Supportive Work Environment: Be part of a team that supports your growth and success, with opportunities to thrive in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Career Growth: Take advantage of continuous training and development opportunities to advance your career.
