Assistant ControllerThe Las Vegas Review-Journal is in search of an Assistant Controller. This candidate will report to the Controller. The Assistant Controller partners with the CFO and senior leadership to drive the companys financial operations delivering accurate reporting, safeguarding internal controls, and streamlining day-to-day finance processes. The role demands precision, agility, and sharp analytical judgment.Were looking for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy professional who thrives in a creative, fast-moving environment.Major Responsibilities-Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.-Prepare monthly financial statements with accuracy and on schedule.-Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and consolidations across entities, in accordance with US GAAP.-Own the general ledger maintain account integrity and complete timely reconciliations.-Partner with department leaders on budgeting and forecasting.-Manage the annual audit process and serve as a primary liaison to external auditors.-Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adequate liquidity.-Contribute to business system implementations and upgrades.-Lead special projects as needed.-Train teams across the company on financial policies, procedures, expense and revenue coding, and accounting system use.-Deliver variance analysis and actionable insights on revenue, expenses, and profitability.-Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance function and broader business needs.-Coordinate sales and use tax, 1099, and other regulatory filings with internal teams and external advisors.Requirements/Skills-Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.-35 years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience.-CPA, or active progress toward CPA licensure, strongly preferred.-Media industry experience strongly preferred.-Deep working knowledge of internal controls and financial reporting standards.-Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Sage, BlackLine, Vena, or comparable financial systems.-Proven ability to collaborate across entities and functional teams.-Track record of analyzing business performance in a media environment.-Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.-This position is Las Vegas-based-Must be able to pass in all relevant ways drug screen and background check.We offer a generous benefits plan, including 401(k) with company match.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
