Job description

Hazen & Sawyer is seeking a Structural Engineer for our Birmingham office with 0-4 years of experience. The position will include performing structural design and analysis of environmental structures such as low-rise industrial buildings, pump stations, process basins, treatment facilities, dams, and spillways.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Computer-aided design (AutoCAD, Revit drafting/modeling, STAAD)
  • Full structural design based on governing building codes and design standards
  • Performing construction management tasks such as shop drawings reviews, responding to RFIs, and field inspections
  • Writing technical reports and assist in the development of drawings and specifications for construction
  • Candidates must be effective communicators and successfully work in multi-discipline team environment

Required Qualifications:

  • 0-4 years of experience
  • BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus preferred
  • Candidates must have or be in progress of obtaining EIT status via successful completion of the FE exam
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other software
  • Experience or coursework in reinforced concrete, steel, and reinforced masonry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT certification/PE
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Civil Engineering (with a Structural Concentration) or Structural Engineering
