Position Highlights
The Senior Coordinator for Student Rights & Responsibilities provides thoughtful expertise to support the Dean of Students Office (DOS) mission. This position plays a significant role with the retention and success of students primarily via the adjudication of alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct. The Senior Coordinator engages with students, student organizations, members of the U of A community, and stakeholders with the goal of maintaining an environment that encourages reasoned discourse, intellectual honesty, openness to constructive change, and respect for the rights of all individuals.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Investigate and adjudicate potential violations of the Student Code of Conduct and assign developmentally appropriate sanctions, as necessary.
- Thoroughly document all aspects of investigations/adjudications by keeping accurate notes, maintaining documents and relevant information, producing investigative findings.
- In consultation with the Associate Director and Associate Dean, assess and respond to incoming referrals and reports by analyzing and prioritizing cases.
- Support all students and organizations involved in the Student Code of Conduct process through respectful interaction; providing accurate and clear information; active interest in hearing the students' perspective; and showing concern for the students' well-being.
- Oversee process for students requesting a review of outcome for low level cases with a finding of responsibility and assigned educational interventions.
- Serve on a triage rotation to help support student and community walk-ins related to academic concerns, well-being, family emergencies, general questions and support, etc.
- May supervise Graduate Assistants.
- Use an electronic database system (Advocate) to monitor, manage, and maintain information related to Student Code of Conduct cases.
- Serve as a resource regarding relevant university policies and procedures for students, faculty, staff, parents and other community members.
- Make appropriate referrals and assist students with various administrative and assistance options available on campus.
- Oversee the development and delivery of educational programs and presentations for faculty, staff, students, and organizations to showcase DOS resources, inform about health and safety procedures, and promote personal responsibility and awareness of the Student Code of Conduct.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with campus departments including, but not limited to, The Associated Students of the University of Arizona (ASUA), Fraternity and Sorority Programs (FSP), Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS), Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), Housing & Residential Life (H&RL), and the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
- Provide communication (written and verbal) to campus partners regarding student accountability.
- Represent DOS on university committees and at campus functions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated and effective communication skills and strong writing skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and successfully perform duties autonomously/independently, as well as using a team approach, in a high traffic and multi-tasked work environment.
- Knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws including VAWA, Title IX, Title II, Title VI, CLERY, FERPA etc.
- Knowledge of issues and trends involving student clubs and organizations including hazing, alcohol, and other organizational behaviors.
- Well-developed skills in organization, time management, analytical reasoning and decision making.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain neutral in trying circumstances.
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and of major trends and issues around college students needs including factors that promote student success, organizations, faculty, staff, and students in sensitive and complex situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple departments, organizations, faculty, staff, and students in sensitive and complex situations.
- Experience in effectively managing highly confidential and sensitive matters.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Experience providing support to individuals who experienced personal trauma or victimization.
- Three or more years of Student Conduct experience.
- Experience investigating and adjudicating cases involving student organizations.
- Experience writing comprehensive investigative reports.
- Experience designing educational materials and outreach.
- Responsibility for case management or crisis management or related experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to, and experience, working with a variety of populations.
- Demonstrated ability to promote self-responsibility and high ethical standards among students.
- Understanding of U of A campus resources.
- Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development; active membership in ASCA, NASPA, ACPA, ATIXA or other relevant professional associations.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
