Job description

Part-Time Orthodontic Dental Assistant

Description

Qualifications:

  • Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with orthodontist in treating patient
  • Instruct patient of elastic treatment
  • Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures
  • Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart
  • Mixing amalgam, cement, and preparing impression materials
  • Pouring, trimming, and polishing impression trays
  • Assisting with bonding, banding, adjusting, and debonding orthodontic patients
  • Placing and cementing bands
  • Setting up orthodontic brackets and removing excess cement from brackets and bands
  • Making retainers, bleaching trays, and impressions
  • Providing excellent chairside assistance and anticipating next steps to stay in constant mental synchronization with the doctor
  • Taking patient initial, progress, and de-bond photos
  • Taking scans of patients for clear aligners or models

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
