Job description

Summary:
The litigation legal assistant in creditors' rights and bankruptcy streamlines case management by handling document organization, deadline tracking, court filing preparation, and communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel across debt collection actions, bankruptcy cases, and associated litigation. Additionally, provide administrative support to our general counsel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and proofread pleadings, motions, proofs of claim, declarations, bankruptcy schedules, memos, and other correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare new matter memos and assist with conflict checks.
  • Electronic filing and service of documents in bankruptcy cases and other jurisdictions.
  • Manage and prioritize litigation calendars, scheduling appointments, meetings, and court appearances in compliance with deadlines.
  • Telephone and attorney client contact. Serve as a liaison with clients, experts, and court personnel to coordinate schedules and gather information as needed.
  • Overtime flexibility is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and litigation processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office, Excel, outlook, and PDF documents.
  • Familiar with electronic filing systems.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, demonstrate logic, reasoning, good judgment, and foresight.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of legal litigation assistant experience (a focus on creditors' rights and bankruptcy preferred).

Working Conditions:
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (typical office or administrative work).
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
