Job description

The Salvation Army’s Cambridge Corps. is hiring a Corps Ministry Assistant and offers excellent benefit package to eligible employees including:

Hours/week: 40 hours per week

Exemption: Non-exempt

Pay Range: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour

The Ministry Associate will serve as support to the Corps Officer with the responsibility to assist in the overall leadership of programs, events, and activities at the Cambridge Corps. This ministry requires a commitment to love young people and to lead them in spiritual growth

This job description is all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential duties of the position.  Other duties, responsibilities and tasks may be assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, daily devotions, etc.
  2. Responsible for being involved in ALL CORPS PROGRAMS, in a leadership, support or advisory capacity to foster their development.
  3. Responsible for assisting with driving responsibilities, as necessitated by Corps Program Schedule
  4. Responsible for assisting with basic maintenance and cleanliness of program space
  5. Attend and contribute to all General Staff & Ministry Team Meetings.
  6. To assist with the oversight of all program schedule activities, special events, building security, etc.
  7. Be involved in platform ministry.
  8. Assist with the organization of fundraisers assisting in funding the overall Corps Ministry.
  9. Provide safety procedures for all participants (Plan of Action) must know evacuation plan and procedure, should have a contingency plan in case of need
  10. Provide a suitable atmosphere throughout the Corps, that is in line with Army standards and encourages moderation in behavior, language, etc.
  11. Bring any problems and/or needs of the Corps to the attention of the Corps Officers and keep the Corps Officers informed about activities and prospective ministry opportunities, from our membership.
  12. Work with the Advisory Council, Corps Council and members of the church congregation in the promotion of the Mission of The Salvation Army as directed
  13. Assist with coordinating the Special Events calendar for the Cambridge Corps
  14. Responsible for assisting with Christmas Fundraising Efforts
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the position

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent

 

Work Experience:

  • Prior work/volunteering experience with Salvation Army programming preferred
  • Prior work/volunteering experience with children in a recreational and/or educational setting
  • Supervisory experience is preferred

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Must have strong communication; able to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Must be responsible, accountable, respectful, positive role model
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a 12-Passenger van
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Ability to read and write effectively in English; follow written instructions, adhere to policy and procedure of The Salvation Army
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Must attend the Corps on Sundays
  • Soldier (member of The Salvation Army Church) or willing to become a Soldier, preferred
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Must uphold Biblical standards in personal and professional life

  7. Ability to travel throughout the Division.

  11. Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions
