Our staff consists of locals, transplants, seasonal workers from all 50 states and international students from around the globe. PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Cook II is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food in accordance with Deer Valley Resort’s quality, service, and food safety standards. This position assists with food production, service line operations, inventory management, and maintaining clean and sanitary kitchen and work areas. The Cook II supports efficient kitchen operations by ensuring food is prepared accurately, equipment is properly maintained, and guests receive a high-quality dining experience.
The Cook II is also responsible for assisting senior kitchen staff by providing guidance and support to Cook I employees during food preparation and service operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Preparation & Service
  • Prepare, cook, and present menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of mise en place and service line inventory.
  • Monitor food quality, appearance, and temperature throughout service.
  • Assist guests and service staff during peak periods.

Kitchen Operations
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas.
  • Properly store, label, rotate, and inventory food products.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with setup, breakdown, and cleaning of kitchen and service areas.

Food Safety & Compliance
  • Follow HACCP, sanitation, and food safety standards.
  • Maintain proper temperature logs and food storage practices.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or product quality concerns promptly.

Teamwork & Guest Service
  • Work cooperatively with kitchen and service staff.
  • Provide support and guidance to Cook I employees as needed.
  • Deliver courteous, professional service to guests and coworkers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have 12 months of culinary work experience
  • Local food handlers’ certification will be required within 30 days of start date
  • Maintain open, constructive channels of communication with other kitchen personnel
  • Demonstrate a good attitude and cooperative nature when dealing with kitchen staff, supervisors, and guests
  • Follow directions from the supervisor and ask questions about aspects of assigned duties you may not understand
  • Must be able to remain calm when faced with stressful situations and alert supervisor of any complaints or problems with guests or other staff
  • Able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time and withstand bending, twisting, and repetitive movements
  • Out of state or country certifications are not valid. ServSafe certification within 3 years of issue date will be accepted.

PAY RATE:
  • Pay: $22.50 per hour
