Job description

Corporate Controller

Location:
Greater Denver Area (Hybrid)
Compensation: $160k-$185k + Bonus Potential

We're partnering with a growing, construction, project-based organization to identify a Controller who will serve as a strategic business partner to the CFO. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading month end close processes with a high-performing team, and driving operational excellence in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities of Controller:

  • Lead all accounting and finance operations, including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, percentage of completion (WIP), fixed assets, inventory, sales tax, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
  • Oversee the monthly close process and prepare accurate, timely financial statements.
  • Analyze financial results and identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Partner with the CFO on annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Drive accounting process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements.
  • Support operational leaders with financial analysis to improve profitability and business performance.
  • Assist with the annual audit and other compliance requirements.
  • Complete ad hoc analysis and special projects for executive leadership.

Qualifications for Controller:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting, including job costing and percentage-of-completion (WIP) accounting.
  • Experience leading accounting teams and developing staff.
  • ERP experience; Great Plains is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style with excellent communication skills.
